Laura graduated from SIUE in 2014 and is a Board Certified Art Therapist and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois. She currently provides art therapy at an outpatient practice in Fairview Heights, IL working with clients ages 5 and older. She has worked in a wide variety of treatment settings including inpatient psychiatric care, intensive outpatient, and residential treatment. Her interests include: community art making, digital art, gardening, biking, and comic books.

Treasurer - Kathy Morgan, MA

Hi! I am Kathy Morgan, serving as the MATA treasurer for the
next few years. Although I live in Belleville, IL, I serve as art therapist at STL ArtWorks in St. Louis. We are a jobs training program for the disadvantaged youth of St. Louis, and the program has included art therapy as something to: support emotions that surface in the art-making and to deal with anxiety, depression, and trauma that they might bring to “work.” Some fun facts about me are: I am a retired elementary teacher who specialized in math; I graduated in December, 2017 from St. Mary-of-the-Woods in Terre Haute, IN, and I have three grown sons, and three grandchildren. Additionally, I would have to say my favorite intervention in art therapy is mandalas because they are so versatile and involve circles! Thank you for the opportunity to serve as treasurer. |
